The Government s Supremacy, And Use Of Theoretical Logic

The government holds too much power and is easily swayed by a majority rather than morals. Society can modify the amount of power that government actually has though through protest. Protest can be violent, but that usually leads to disagreement and anarchy. Protest can be nonviolent however, and take the form of civil disobedience. Civil disobedience is a method of protesting with limited to zero casualties and much less engagement. This process is preferred because it has proven to be more effective in a more efficient way. Both essays utilize facts to inform the audience about the government’s supremacy, and use theoretical logic to explain what the audience can do to prevent it. The comparison of these two essays is essential because it enforces the effect that change is no longer an option but a necessity The primary similarity between Gandhi and Thoreau’s papers is that they both state different approaches to exactly what must be done to alter the government.
